I’m a cat lover. In fact, if I could have 10 cats, I probably would. That’s right, I’d be a crazy cat lady. Or I’d at least be a cat lady. I’m not crazy…yet. And because I’m cat lover, I go out of my way to give my little fur balls the best things in life, including the best cat food.
My love affair with cats started when I was a little girl with a Flame Point Himalayan kitten named Pumpkin. He was my heart, but crossed the rainbow bridge in 2009 a few months before his 20th birthday.
But my love for cats was really put to the test nine years ago when I rescued my cat, Bocca. And I literally rescued him (that’s him above on the left and below). His mother was a stray, and she gave birth to him under a tree in my yard. I heard the little guy out there screaming, which is how he got his name (Italian for “mouth”). I left him alone for a while, thinking his mom would come back, but she never did.
So I brought him inside, cut the umbilical cord, and got him a heating pad and some kitten milk replacement. The vet said he probably wouldn’t live more than a week without his mother. I refused to accept that and nursed him around the clock. Nine years later, he’s a little hell raiser, and I love him.Back then, I fed him kitten formula, but today I feed him good, high-quality cat food. When searching for a nutritious cat food, I usually look for the four key criteria in my checklist below.
The “Good Cat Food” Checklist
Real chicken or salmon as the #1 ingredient
Contains fruits & veggies
No corn, soy or wheat recipe
No artificial flavors or preservatives
There aren’t many dry cat foods out there that fit all four criteria. Most fall short on the “fruits & veggies” and “no corn, soy or wheat” requirements. One cat food that DOES score check marks on all four requirements is GOODLIFE™ cat food.
I pick up GOODLIFE™ cat food when I shop at Walmart. They’ve got GOODLIFE™ cat food in Chicken Recipe, Salmon Recipe, and Indoor Recipe – right there in their pet food aisle.
Bocca loves it, and Harley loves it, too. That’s Harley (named for her deep and loud purr) below. She is a rescue from the Humane Society.
Even our newest addition, a furry little Himalayan named Cupcake loves it! (His original name was Oscar, after Oscar the Grouch because he always looks so grumpy, that is until our three-year-old officially renamed him.)
That’s Cupcake below chowing down on his GOODLIFE™ Indoor Recipe. Don’t try to take that bowl away before he’s done eating, because you might lose a finger! Just kidding, he’s harmless…but I’d rather not test him.
