A few weeks ago, I talked about our daughter the tech wizard and how much she loves her LeapPad. I also mentioned the new LeapPad Ultra, which included a mention of a sweepstakes to win a LeapPad. (Did anyone win one?)
I didn’t win a LeapPad, but if I had, we’d have two of them. Not that that would be a bad thing. That means we’d be able to keep a LeapPad at our house and another at grammy’s house!
If you didn’t win and you’d like a LeapPad Ultra for yourself, you can pre-order the Ultra from the LeapPad website. (UPDATE: The LeadPad website is sold out of LeapPads for pre-order, but you can still head over to the site to find a list of other retailers, including LF.com, TRU, Walmart, Target, Kmart, Best Buy and Barnes & Noble.)
If you’d like a recap of what makes the LeapPad Ultra the perfect learning tool for your little one, here are a few of the Ultra’s many fantastic features:
- 7” hi-res screen
- Wi-Fi in a secure, kid-friendly tablet
- 8GB of storage
- Built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery
- Front-and-back cameras and video recorders
- New creative tools with enhanced Photo and Art Studio apps
- Built-in MP3 player
- Chat and play peer-to-peer in two included apps!
- LeapSearch, powered by Zui, to browse age-appropriate videos and images from the web in a safe, walled-off site
- Simple parental settings to take charge of your child’s online experience
- Works with LeapFrog’s award-winning library of 800+ educator-approved apps, games, eBooks, videos, music and more.
- Games that automatically adjust to your child’s level

My kids love their Innotab tablets and can work them better than I can work my own tablet. It’s amazing how tech savvy our kids are these days. But I still don’t understand why kids need to have access to the internet. That is my only beef with all these tablets and parents allowing access to the internet unsupervised.
My kids would absolutely love the Leap Pad and would pick it up so easily. They’re 7, 5 and 2, but are smarter than I give them credit for!
Great review. We have been talking about getting a Leap Pad but I wasn’t sure if it was worth it or not.
Nice review! We were just talking yesterday about what to get our 7 year old for Christmas, this will definitely make the list of things to consider

It’s incredible how far technology has come since I was a kid! My daughter turns 1 next week and already knows how to swipe the iPhone. I bet when the time comes, a LeapPad Ultra will be on her Christmas list!

My son loves his Leap Pad, but is now starting to grow out of it – and was planning on handing it down to my daughter, but this Ultra seems like the new way to go.
My daughter is only 18 months but she controls me iPad. I would much prefer her to use something that’s just for her. I might take a look into this. Thanks for sharing.

Love LeapFrog Products!!
My son would love this!
I think the technology they have available for kids now is so cool! I would have thought a LeapPad was so cool when I was a kid.
This would be a pretty cool gift for my niece’s if they weren’t such spoiled little brats and didn’t fight over everything till it broke. My son is a little old for this stuff which kinda sucks. I’ve always wanted to get him some of the Leapfrog things but my wallet never allowed it…
Sounds perfect for my daughter!
Would love to gift it to my daughter.
I got to see this at Sweet Suite last weekend at BlogHer – and I can’t wait to get one!!
Thanks for the honest review. I definitely need to get one for my son for Christmas
