How Pennzoil and Walmart Helped Me Talk My Husband Into a Shopping Trip

It’s become a tradition in our house. The first weekend after either of our cars passes 3,000 miles since the last oil change, my husband retreats to the garage, crawls under the car, and emerges an hour later looking way dirtier than he probably should be. Changing the oil makes him feel manly, I guess, but I’ve done the time and money math, and it’s not really worth it.

So, this past weekend when our Jeep inched past 3,000 miles since its last oil change, I talked him into taking it to Walmart to let their automotive service center handle the oil change for us. He resisted a little, but when I told him they have Pennzoil oil (his preferred brand), he finally agreed.

Oh, about that oil change “time and money math” I mentioned in the first paragraph. Getting your oil changed by a pro doesn’t cost very much more than if you did it yourself. From June 10 through September 9, Pennzoil oil changes are on Rollback at Walmart Automotive Care Centers. A high mileage Pennzoil oil change is just $35.88 and a Premium Full Synthetic oil changes is $45.88.

And when you factor in the time you’ll save by not having to do it yourself, the cost of leaving the dirty job to the pros is definitely worth it.

Speaking of time saved, while we waited for our oil change, we did a little shopping in Walmart. (See what I did there? I kept my husband clean, saved time AND talked him into a shopping trip!) Since I did feel bit bad about dragging him away from his manly Saturday afternoon task, I let him roam around the electronic section, where he did what he usually does — drool over the big screen HDTV’s and try to talk me into upgrading ours.

Before long, our Jeep was done and ready for our next summer road trip to Washington D.C. Now, I’m much more knowledgeable about olive oil and vegetable oil than I am about motor oil, but, but apparently Pennzoil products are among the best you can buy for your car.

Pennzoil products help clean out engine sludge that other oils leave behind. No other oil provides better protection. For our aging Jeep, we chose a high mileage oil that reduces leaks and oil consumption in cars with more than 75,000 miles.
