When it comes to buying greeting cards, my husband finds the task to be a tad … overwhelming. There’s something about the sea of options and the pressure of choosing the “perfect card” that makes him a little frazzled. I, on the other hand, tend to enjoy the task, especially when it comes to shopping for cards for my mom.
My mother and I have a tradition of buying funny cards for each other – none of that sappy, emotional stuff for us! So with her birthday rapidly approaching, I headed to Hallmark section of my local Walmart to find a card that would get a few laughs. While I was there, I picked up three more cards for my friend, my brother, and his girlfriend. (A big thanks to my handy iPhone calendar for reminding me about all four birthdays!)
The nice thing about Hallmark cards at Walmart is how neatly organized the greeting cards are. Birthdays, anniversaries, thank you cards, graduations – each has their own section, which makes shopping so much easier (except for my husband).
I sometimes pay attention to price – Walmart has cards of all price ranges – but, to me, the perfect card is worth whatever the cost may be. Sometimes I’ll even choose a card that has a little something to do with the gift I’m buying. In the case of my mom, her gift this year is a Keurig single-serve coffee maker (she doesn’t read my blog, so the surprise won’t be spoiled). I couldn’t find any cards with a coffee theme, which meant my options were wide open.
And boy, where they ever wiiiiide open. I headed straight for the “Shoebox” section (Hallmark’s funniest cards) and started giggling out loud at the options. I couldn’t decide which of the following three funny Hallmark cards to get for my mom, so I bought all three and I’m leaving it up to YOU to help me decide which one to give her.
Vote in the poll below with which card you think is the best, and leave a comment with your thoughts on the card and your thoughts on greeting card shopping (love it like I do?). The card with the most votes will be the one she gets. As for the other two cards, those will be added to my Hallmark stockpile for use at some point!
