This fall marks my first “Back to School” season, and it’s actually kind of bittersweet. Bitter, because I can’t believe our little one is four already and headed off to pre-school. And sweet, because, let’s face it, it means I’ll get three hours a day all to myself. I’m not sure what I’ll do with that time, but I plan to spend at least the first day checking out snack recipes and planning the after school snacks menu.
When it comes to after school snacks, I have two rules: 1) It has to be easy to prepare and, 2) It has to be made with real, authentic ingredients.
I recently found not one, but TWO great snacks — Bagel Bites and Delimex Taquitos — during a trip to Walmart. Both were found in the frozen section, with the Bagel Bites in the snack aisle and the Delimex Taquitos just around the corner (I found mine on an end-of-aisle display).
Most kids work up an appetite while at school, but I thought it would be nice to have a really fun and special snack time to celebrate our daughter’s first day of pre-school. To do that with the Bagel Bites — which are made with real cheese and homemade sauce with 0g trans fat — I’ll create a toppings bar that we could use to add a personal touch to our Bagel Bites.
The Bagel Bites come in all sorts of flavors, including Cheese & Pepperoni and Supreme, but I bought Three Cheese Bagel Bites so we can could dress them up with some green peppers, red peppers and pepperoni.
After her second day at school, I plan to use the Delimex Taquitos with a variety of tasty dips. Among the options will be salsa (my favorite!), ranch dressing (my husband’s favorite!), and nacho cheese (our daughter’s favorite!).
Delimex Taquitos come in all sorts of great varieties, including Beef, Chicken and Three Cheese corn taquitos. They’ve also got flour taquitos in Beef & Cheese and Chicken & Cheese. I picked up some Chicken & Cheese taquitos and they were sooooo good! Not only are they tasty, they’re also super simple to make — just pop them in the microwave for a minute or two, and they’re done!
We gave both snacks a test before the first day of school and both options were a big hit! My husband liked the Delimex Taquitos (then again, he likes anything he can dip in ranch dressing), and our daughter and I liked the Bagel Bites!
For more information about Delimex Taquitos, check out their website! You can’t also stop by the Bagel Bites website. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the recipes on the Bagel Bites site and get some coupons for Bagel Bites and Delimex Taquitos!
Oooh yum! I am always looking for fun snack ideas for the kiddos!
When my kids were little, they practically lived on Bagel Bites. My husband and I still love them as a snack!
My kids love Bagel Bites as an afterschool snack. Now that school is starting back up, I really should stock up.
My daughter has a new thing with taquitos. She wants them for lunch, snack, and dinner. I don’t know how she became such a taquito girl but we always have to make sure the freezer is fully stocked otherwise we are sent off on late night runs to the store!
Yum! We love Bagel Bites! We actually just bought a 72 ct box for a party!
Love Bagel Bites, we have some in our freezer at home. One of our favorites.
Oh yummy! I never had snacks like that after school! Love those bagel bites!
Haha – I love those snacks for myself! (Hubs and I have a “date night” at home often and don’t want to spend a ton and eat something yummy all the same.) I typically give my kids grapes and carrots though after school.
My daughter loves Begal Bites! They are her favorite snack!
I love those snacks! The cheese and chicken ones are my favorites!
I used to enjoy afternoon after school snacks! These are great. I remember those bagel bites. Definitely looking into this as I know even my preschooler would like them!
My kids love Bagel Bites. They do make an awesome snack idea for after school.
I am going to have to make these for my kids!
I already loved the bagel bites, but now I feel like I need those taquitos to dip!
I love taquitos! Yum! I can’t believe they’ll be back at school next week! Snacks are important when they get off the bus!
Bagel Bites are my kids favorite snack. We have to buy them every time we go to the grocery store.
