They say being a parent changes everything, which isn’t entirely true. Not everything changes. Yes, plenty does, but despite being the father of a very outspoken soon-to-be-two-year-old, I still enjoy many of my old habits and pastimes. For instance:
- I still watch baseball games … on my phone, while I’m rocking her to sleep.
- I still like gory horror movies … but not before 9 p.m.
- I still can’t pass up a good cheeseburger when I see it on the menu … even if I find myself holding a menu a lot less often these days
- I still curse like the former sailor I am … silently, to myself. And when I do swear out loud, I catch it after the first syllable and quickly change the word, resulting in frequent outbursts of “shhh-ark” and “fffrench fries!”
- I still enjoy a good book now and then … usually involving very hungry caterpillars or ambitious little train engines.
- I still go camping … in a pink, pop-up princess tent in the middle of the living room.
- And I still wouldn’t trade my life for anything … not even for luxury box seats at a Mets game with all-you-can-eat double bacon cheeseburgers.

I can TOTALLY relate to this….except for the gory movies and sports parts! 🙂 Loved it!!
Absolutely adorable, very nice to see a man’s point of view on parenting.
Very true! I guess I never thought of it that way, thanks for sharing your perspective 🙂
Happy to provide a dad’s point of view. I’ll try to write more often, so if anyone has any ideas for entries, I’m all ears.
