The great “poet” Will Smith once wrote, “Summer, summer, summertime. Time to sit back and unwind.”
He’s full of crap, though. With all the family trips and birthday celebrations (pretty much everyone in my family was born in the summer), I do very little “unwinding” during the summer months. And in between all of that madness, I have to find time for good snacks.
During a recent trip to Walmart, I was on the hunt for a hot snack AND a cold snack. The requirements: They had to be easy and they had to be tasty. I found both with the purchase of some Hot Pockets and Edy’s Outshine Fruit & Veggie Bars (I also got some Edy’s Outshine Fruit Bars).
The Hot Pockets are a family favorite (for some reason, our little one calls them “spicy’s”). I picked up a value pack of 12 Pepperoni Hot Pockets, which were easily found in the snacks and appetizers aisle of the frozen foods section at Walmart.
In addition to being super easy to make, I really like how Hot Pockets uses quality ingredients like premium cuts of meat – like 100 percent Angus Beef – and real cheese. In addition to being tasty and hot, they’re also an excellent source of protein.
One aisle later, I found the Edy’s Outshine Fruit & Veggie bars and the Outshine Fruit Bars. The bars are infused with real and natural fruit ingredients and come in a variety of yummy flavors. Fruit Bar options include 11 flavors like Lime, Mango, Pomegranate, Peach, and Pineapple. The Fruit & Veggie bars offer a taste of combos like Tangerine Carrot, Peach Mango Medley, and Apple & Greens.
I picked up some of the Strawberry Rhubarb Fruit & Veggie bars and Creamy Coconut Fruit Bars. The Strawberry Rhubarb Fruit & Veggie bars are made with strawberry, rhubarb, pear, apple, carrot and more. They’re an excellent source of Vitamin C, only 60 calories (and fat free!), and contain no artificial colors or flavors.
Oh, and they taste uhhh-mazing!
With my Hot Pockets and Edy’s Outshine Fruit & Veggie bars, I’m finally able to take Will Smith’s advice and sit back and do a little unwinding this summer. A whole 10 minutes yesterday … and it was heavenly.
Love the fruit outshine bars. Really want to try the veggie ones!
My kids LOVE hot pockets!! I buy them in bulk at BJ’s actually!
I have not gotten to try the Outshine Bars yet, but I definitely am going to keep my eyes open for the Strawberry Rhubarb ones. I love that flavor combination!
OHHH! I’ll have to try those Outshine bars! They look awesome!
I’ve never had the bars before! I need to try them!
The Out Shine bars looks so refreshing. I am sure the kids will love them
Both are great products. I like those Out Shine bars.
Those Out Shine bars look yummy and perfect on a hot summer day!
We are in love with Outshine bars in my home.
My son loves hot pockets! They’re perfect for a quick summer lunch because they don’t heat up the kitchen.
Those Outshine bars look amazing. Would love to try the fruit and veggie bars!
I just tried the strawberry Outshine bars for the first time last night and it was delicious!
I have not tried Outshine bars and would like to. My family really likes to have iced treats in the summer.
These fruit bars are my favorite especially the coconut, shhhhhhhhhhhhh I buy a box for myself and I hide them in the freezer and I do not share them! LOL!
I want one of those coconut bars right now. I bet they taste yummy and are refreshing during this heat.
This looks like a delicious lunch! I love having those pops on hand during the summer months.
I love icicle pops, now we need to try the the veggie/fruit ones out of curiosity!!
My kids have been bugging me lately to get them some ice cream. I think these will do the trick quite nicely!
We just finished a box of Outshine Grape today. I feel extra good about my kids eating Outshine popsicles, and I like throwing them into the blender with fruit and making smoothies. We’re not so much into the hotpockets because my son has a wheat allergy. They look yummy, though.
Sounds like the perfect way to unwind! #client
