I can’t believe it’s December already. I’m already worn out from the hustle and bustle of Halloween and Thanksgiving and the busiest holiday is just around the corner. The shopping, the baking, more shopping, and the traveling. All of that ho, ho, ho and go, go, go means I have very little “go” left when it comes to dinners. That’s where Marie Callender’s Pot Pies come in.
During a recent trip to Walmart to pick up some Christmas decorations and help Santa out with some gift shopping, I meandered over to the frozen foods aisle to check out the assortment of pop-in-the-oven-on-a-cold-winter’s-day dinners. And that’s when I spotted the newest addition to the Marie Callender’s line-up — family-sized chicken pot pies.
What I LOVE about these pot pies is how easy they are to make. Just stick it in the oven for 90 minutes and you’re done! It doesn’t get much easier than that, and the result is something that tastes like a dinner you made yourself. That’s because every Marie Callender’s pot pie shares and delivers the true sense of homemade.
You can do whatever you want with those 90 minutes while dinner is cooking. We watched a movie (“Frosty the Snowman” for the fifth time this season) and the hubby dragged the tree into the house and to get it ready for decorating later. And while all of that was happening, the pot pie in the oven made the whole house smell like the perfect Sunday evening.
In addition to being super simple to make, Marie Callender’s family-sized pot pies are BIG. They’ve also got homemade gravy mixed with vegetables and all-white-meat chicken, in a golden, perfectly flaky crust that’s made from scratch. (I gave my crust an extra golden touch by brushing on some egg yolk about halfway through the cooking process.)
Yes, with the temperature dropping and the stress levels rising, pop-in-the-oven pot pies are the perfect way to warm you up at the end of a busy weekend. For more info and inspiration for your own lazy Sunday meals, visit the #PotPiePlease website or follow Marie Callender’s on Facebook.

I love Marie Callenders pot pies – I recently saw the family size at my grocery store. I was tempted but didn’t! This trip around I am planning to add it to our grocery list and dinner plan. I am a stickler for cooking from scratch but since it is holiday season, I need help!
