I’ve mentioned it a few times before, but we LOVE to grill. Every change we get, we look for an excuse to fire up the barbeque, which means I get a chance to scour the internet for new grilling recipes. I find the recipes and goodies to grill, and my hubby does the grilling. It’s a match made in flame-broiled heaven!
One goodie I recently discovered is Hillshire Farm American Craft Sausage. My husband is crazy about throwing hot dogs, kielbasa and bratwurst on the grill – pretty much anything that can be put on a bun and slathered with condiments – so I knew he’d love these sausages. I found mine at Target, and immediately made plans to top them with a Pineapple Guacamole based on a recipe I’ve been dying to try.
What’s nice about Hillshire Farm American Craft links that they’re hand crafted to deliver exceptional flavor. To make them, they use on only the best cuts of 100% pork and real ingredients like garlic, and smoky bourbon. Oh, and there are NO nitrates, NO nitrites, and NO MSG added, so all you taste is exceptional sausage.
We bought the Smoky Bourbon flavor, but you can also get American Craft links in Garlic and Onion, Original Bratwurst, Jalapeno and Cheddar, and Craft Beer Brat. (Next up will be Garlic and Onion links topped with peppers. There’s nothing better than sausage and peppers!)
The real test when it comes to any new addition to our grilling menu is taste. The final verdict – the Hillshire Farm American Craft links were AMAZING and the Pineapple Guacamole was a tasty topping, too. We also added pepperjack cheese, more chopped onions and tomatoes, and pickled jalapenos. Then we paired it with some potato salad and baked beans.
Needless to say, we’re going to be having American Craft links quite a few more times this grilling season, and I definitely recommend you do the same! If you do, be sure to use the Target coupon found here (valid 6/22 through 7/5). Look how yummy!

- 4 avocados
- 1 lime
- ½ tsp of kosher salt

- ⅓ sweet onion, diced
- 2 Roma tomatoes, diced
- ½ tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 tsbp crushed pineapple
- 3 tbsp pickled jalapenos, chopped (the seeds contain the spice, so remove all if you like it mild, remove half for a medium spice and leave all for fiery!)

- Squeeze juice of 1 lime on avocados
- Add kosher salt and cayenne
- Mix in sweet onion, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, pineapple and jalapenos
- Chill
