Ask any mom and she’ll tell you, the craziest part of her day is the morning. At least that’s the case for me. Starting my day was hard enough without kids, and now that I have a three-year-old and a three-month old puppy, it’s ten times harder. Not only do I have to keep everyone moving and happy, but also decide what to eat for breakfast and then actually cook it. My mornings go a little something like this:
- Stumble to the kitchen to start the coffee
- Quickly shower
- Take the dog out – try desperately to keep her from chasing leaves and to actually DO HER BUSINESS
- Wake the diva (we lovingly refer to her as “the beast” when it’s time to wake her)
- Dress the diva (this usually involves a few outfit changes, because you know, she is the diva, after all)
- Feed the diva
- Feed the dog
- Feed the cats, so they stop circling my feet like sharks
- Check email and attempt to reply to a few
- Clean up breakfast dishes
- Take the dog out…again
- Clean up whatever mess the diva made while I was out with the dog (such as scrubbing pen off the iPad cover, like I did this morning)
- By this time, the diva is ready to play
Oh and at some point in there, I suck down some cold coffee and try to feed myself. Our little one is easy (oatmeal and fruit, or a waffle and fruit, or yogurt and fruit), but my breakfast is usually cold toast or skipped altogether. That is, until I discovered Tyson Day Starts.
Here’s what I like most about Tyson Day Starts: They’re so easy to make! Seriously, just a couple minutes in the microwave is all it takes. That means my breakfast is cooked and ready to go in the time it takes me to make our daughter’s breakfast. I chose the Egg, Sausage and Cheese Flatbreads on this particular trip. Add in a dish of fruit and coffee and you have a quick, yet seriously delicious meal – a flaky flatbread, salty sausage, savory egg and cheese and sweet berries – it’s a rainbow of flavors!
What’s also nice is that the Day Starts make a great high-protein breakfast. Thanks to the high-quality meats and cheeses in their products, Day Starts contain 24% or more of your daily protein intake! As a busy mom, I can use all the protein I can get to keep me going. So much yummy goodness packed into one flatbread!
I picked up my Tyson Day Starts at Walmart, where they can be found in the frozen breakfast items aisle.
They’ve got all sorts of varieties, too, including Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuits; Colby and Monterey Jack Cheese Wrapped Omelets; and several tasty flatbread options.
I’m already looking forward to a return visit to try some of the other flavors. Could a “breakfast for dinner” meal be in our near future? I can almost guarantee you that the answer is YES!
