Now that I have a daughter, my favorite part of holidays is sharing in her wonder and excitement. It’s almost like experiencing the holiday as a child again myself! To foster this, like most families, we incorporate old and new traditions. From going to church on Easter Sunday to digging into my daughter’s Easter candy that same night (ssshhh!!), Easter is one of my favorite holidays! What (new or old) traditions does your family partake in at Easter?
The center of most Easter feasts is the Easter Ham, symbolic of luck. I know, I know. After wrangling kids to get dressed in their Easter clothes, haul everyone off to Church, possibly attend an egg hunt and then trying to keep kids who are hyped up on Easter candy from destroying your house, the last thing you want to do is slave over the oven to make a ham. This is why I always snag a HoneyBaked Ham for Easter. They’re fully cooked and ready to serve, making it an easy part of your Easter traditions! Plus, they’re deliciously tender and sweet. HoneyBaked also offers more than 20 side dishes and premium desserts to make the feast complete!
These sweet rolls are a delicious way to explain the burial and resurrection of Jesus and the surprise that was felt when the Jesus was missing from the tomb. Making this recipe is really simple. The dough is wrapped around a big marshmallow and as it bakes, the marshmallow melts, leaving a big hole in the middle, symbolizing the empty tomb. You can find the entire recipe and fun explanation at Homegrown Mom.
Easter Eggs
You can’t have Easter without the Easter eggs! My fondest memories of Easters past are of dying the eggs and having an Easter egg hunt. If your kids aren’t ready to dip into the dyes, you can always color eggs or decorate with stickers. Then have fun playing the Easter bunny by hiding them!
Magic Jelly Beans and the Lollipop Garden
I recently found this fun Lollipop Garden on Pinterest. Your children will excited to go out the next morning to see what grew from the Jelly Bean “seeds.” We’ll be starting this fun tradition this year!
