SANITY SAVERS: BEST MONEY-SAVING APPS (PART TWO)

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

As promised, today I’m sharing part two of the best money saving apps (the first two money saving apps can be seen here). If you downloaded  the previous apps (or these), let me know what you think with a comment. Likewise, if you’re saving with another app, leave a comment and share the wealth!

BEST APP FOR PERSONAL FINANCE

Mint.com

Saving money at the grocery store is one thing. Managing your money is another, and Mint.com does that better than any app out there. In a nutshell, this financial wizard compiles bank account and credit card data in one place to allow users to see exactly where their money is going each month and create a budget to help you stay on target. In other words, it’s all the advice and lessons your parents gave you, rolled into one handy app (minus the nagging questions about why you don’t call more often).

BEST APP FOR BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO LEFTOVERS

Love Food Hate Waste

Got leftovers? Of course you do, and this app can help. Instead of simply reheating them or, worse yet, throwing them away, fire up this app instead. To use it, select the extra food items you might have in your kitchen (sorry, the app won’t identify those mysterious leftovers in the brown jar) and the app’s “recipe blender” will return a selection of recipes to help turn Tuesday’s grilled pork chops into Thursday’s sweet and sour pork.

BEST APP FOR FINDING THE BEST DEAL ON THAT THING

RL Classic (formerly RedLaser)

We’ve all been there. You’re in a store, with that toy/dress/tech thing in your hand and you’re about to put it in your cart when a wave of doubt washes over you. What if another store is selling it for less? With RL Classic, you can answer that question – and find that store – in a matter of seconds. After scanning the item’s bar code, RL Classic will return a list of local stores (thanks to your phone’s GPS technology), and the price of that item to help you find the best deal in town. No more dragging screaming kids to five different stores, only to realize that the best price was at the first one you checked.
