I am so thrilled to have this opportunity to share our potty training experience as part of this sponsored campaign from Huggies Pull-Ups. This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Huggies Pull-Ups. All opinions are my own.

pull upsAs many of you know, I’ve blogged about our potty training attempts in the past. It’s been the bane of my existence for … well, for a long time. We’ve tried letting her run around naked. Bribed her with treats for sitting on the potty. Given lots of encouragement. Bought Dora the Explorer panties. Her response usually included crying and/or screaming and a flat out refusal to sit.

But once I stopped trying to push her and let her take more of a lead, she was much more amenable to the idea of sitting on the potty. That’s right, this stubborn girl will do it in her own time. I try not to get too hung up on deadlines, because no kid goes to kindergarten in diapers – or so they say. If all else fails, maybe her husband can teach her one day.

I know when she finally does learn to use the potty, life won’t necessarily be easier. There will be times when we need to find a potty, FAST! It will be a feat in and of itself and those times will come at the most inopportune moments. We’ll have to brave germ-laden restrooms where you have to use a roll of toilet paper to protect their little tushy and go through half a gallon of sanitizer because she hasn’t quite learned that some things aren’t meant to be touched. And I’m sure there will be some accidents. After all, if your little one pees in her diaper while gleefully pulling things off the shelves in Target, no one bats an eye. That will all change once they graduate to big kid underwear.

Plus, potty training is a reminder that my little girl is growing up. It’s one less thing she needs her momma for. One step closer to going away to college. I know, I know. I’m jumping the gun. I look forward to the next milestone as much as the next person, but I also mourn the stage we just left, because you can’t go back. So I cherish each moment, each hurdle, each success, and one day, I’ll even miss doing the potty dance.

So for now we don our Pull-Ups and I enjoy reminding her that she needs to take a potty break and doing the potty dance when she tries.  Stay tuned for more updates on our potty training adventure.

Speaking of Pull-Ups, I can’t recommend them enough to take the “fear” out of potty training. They’re easy on and off for little monsters and super soft and absorbent. No more worrying about accidents! Check out how cute they are!monster pull upsPull-Ups helps take the scare out of potty training by making it fun and easy with new Monsters U character training pants! You can help make potty training easier by staying consistent and using rituals like the potty break. Make it a game and ask your toddler, “What does a little monster take?”…“A Potty Break!”

  1. Very cute characters.

  2. What a cutie you have! Even when she dons her monster face 🙂 Potty training can be a daunting experience, but you are right… she will do so in her own time. Btw…I love the Monster U pull-ups!

  3. I hated potty training! I am so thankful those days are over for me, but now I have 2 grandson’s in pull-ups. They are a lifesaver. Probably the guy that invented them should be given the Nobel Peace Award. I’m sure there are thousands of kids alive today because of pull-ups. I know my son is!

  4. That last photo of her is HILARIOUS!! Now we can see what she really thinks of going potty!! And yes, with being able to go potty come even more messes! Like (well, I have two boys) seeing how far you can pee, squirt as hard as you can in a circular motion, being engrossed in a show and “forgetting” to go pee/poo until it is actually dripping off you….there are times I wish my boys would still wear diapers!

Good luck, that’s all I can say. Our little one was just like your daughter: we tried it all and he still did not care. But it happened (with the help of my husband, phew).

My 2 year old is struggling with potty training maybe if I get him fun pull ups it will give him the push he needs 🙂 Thank you for sharing <3

  6. I keep telling myself on a regular basis that no one goes to Kindergarten in a diaper. And hoping. Right now, I’m beginning to think that my son won’t be housebroken until he’s off to university. Good luck!

  7. We first tried to potty train without the pull-ups and ended up with one too many puddles on the floor. After we got them, my daughter really started getting into the process.

  8. Pullups helped my sisters so much with potty training. Especially at night.

  9. Oh my goodness! Those are some super cute Pull up training pants!!! I love Huggies! And Will most likely be using these training pants when my daughter is finally ready to start potty training.

  10. That picture cracks me up!!! So cute!

  11. I wish pull ups were this cool when my boys were potty training.

  12. Huggies is the only brand I use in my house. I am going to have to look for these. Thanks for sharing.

  13. THAT is adorable, and brilliant. What a great concept they came up with.

  14. Pullups are a genius invention! Diapers that can go up and down or be taken off the regular way. I am working on potty training with my son this summer. He’s 2 years 3 months.

  15. I need to get some of these! I have been thinking about potty training my almost two year old.

  16. monica young says:

so cute and they really make easy the process of potty training

  17. my daughter has them and loves the characters

  18. I foolishly bought an off brand of “pull ups” a few weeks back (my daughter only wears them at bed time) and my daughter quickly noticed the difference. They were “bunchy” and hurt her “bum bum.” She refused to wear them and told me to buy the other kind. Learned my lesson. I will NEVER buy anything but Huggies ever again.

  19. Potty training was tough for me. I wish I had thought of these when I was going through the potty training stage.

  20. Love Divas picture!! Haha! Ashton wants these and he is potty trained haha. I’m sure Easton will love them too!!
