powerupI’m proud of many things. My smart and beautiful daughter, my ability to remain mostly calm during one of her meltdowns, my homemade chicken pot pie recipe. I’m also proud of my lifelong track record when it comes to oral hygiene. Zero cavities – that’s right, zero – for the first 30 years of my life.

And then pregnancy happened. As many moms know, your teeth can sometimes be affected during pregnancy thanks to alterations in body chemistry. That’s how I got my first cavity. Well, that and all the ice cream and brownies I ate during those nine months.

I still take good care of my teeth, which is why I was excited when I was asked to review their Sonicare PowerUp toothbrush. The battery-powered toothbrush is a brand new offering from Sonicare and is available for just $19.99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond in the “Personal Care” section located near the checkout counters.1-26I’m normally an old-fashioned manual-powered toothbrush kind of gal, but I’ve been wanting to try a battery-powered toothbrush for a while. Long story short: I’m no longer an old-fashioned manual-powered toothbrush kind of gal!

The Sonicare PowerUp toothbrush is powerful, but not in an overpowering way that you might expect a powered toothbrush to be. It makes brushing soooo much easier and it really did leave my teeth feeling cleaner than I might get with a manual toothbrush. That extra clean feeling is due, in large part, to the Sonicare PowerUp delivering “a month’s worth of brush strokes in a day.”

It also comes with a one-year warranty and when the brush head wears out, you can buy a replacement head wherever Sonicare PowerUp toothbrushes are sold. Oh, and here’s the best part: The Sonicare PowerUp automatically shuts off after two minutes, so you know exactly how long you need to brush to get a good cleaning. Needless to say, my days of using an old manual toothbrush are over.

For more information about the Sonicare PowerUp, be sure to visit Sonicare on Twitter and Facebook. Feel free to also check out this cool video about the evolution of the toothbrush. And finally, you can find out more about my Bed, Bath & Beyond shopping experience in my Google+ album!
