By a show of hands, who likes shopping for greeting cards? If you’re like me, you probably have your hand raised. (Okay, you can put your hand down now, people around you might think you’re a little strange.)

A few weeks ago, I ventured to Walmart in search of the “perfect” Hallmark card for my mom’s birthday. The only requirement I had for my mom’s card was that it had to be funny. Fortunately, Hallmark has no shortage of laugh-out-loud cards, so I bought three of them and asked you – my readers – which card I should give her.

And the winning card was …

I loved the card, too, (it was my personal favorite) because it was the only one of three options that fit the “from both of us” criteria I was also hoping for. In case you’re wondering which of us is my mom’s favorite – me or my husband – it really varies depending upon the day of the week!

As always in my family, the greeting card is opened before the gift and gets passed around for the entire group to enjoy. The card was a hit with everyone, and even got a laugh from my cranky Aunt Susan, which isn’t always easy to do. Here are the other contenders. They were all funny, but the winner was clearly the best.

card 3 collageLong story short, I’ll definitely be shopping at Walmart for more Hallmark cards in the future. Of course, Hallmark has plenty of sentimental cards, but if it’s funny cards you’re looking for, their “Shoebox” line is guaranteed to deliver some humor. I mean, just check out the selection!

w1This entire experience has also inspired me to create a library of greeting cards at home, so I always have a greeting card on hand if I really need one and don’t have time to stop at the store. Right now, I have about a dozen cards in my collection, including several which are reserved for friend’s birthdays later this year.

Now, if only Hallmark would create a “Sorry I was late for our lunch date, my three-year-old had a Cheerio stuck in her nose and I couldn’t find my car keys” card. I could really use one of those on a regular basis!

  14. I am not a huge fan of buying greeting cards just because it is so difficult to find the perfect card. I always gravitate towards funny cards and can never seem to find one that really could resonate with my incredibly quirky, sarcastic family members. We all have the same humor and operate in sarcasm and not a lot of greeting card companies get that. The card in your post, though, is really funny and it’s good to see me being proven wrong by Hallmark because I could really use some help in the greeting card department!

  15. Really cute card I think I voted for this one! Glad she liked it 🙂

Right now, they have a pet photo contest running until October 6. Who knows, you might have something to offer for the next contest? Maybe you can get your card created one day. Sounds like it would be a good seller.
